Bliss Bites Recipes: Easy & Nutritious Protein-Packed Snacks

Ingredients and Method:

NUTS & SEEDS- 1 cup of the following:

Cashews, almonds, pecan, walnuts, Brazil nuts, macadamia nuts,  pistachio nuts, almond flour, coconut flour, shredded coconut, quinoa flakes, psyllium husk. I often use a combination of nuts, seeds and coconut.

DRIED FRUIT- 1 cup of the following:

Dates, sultanas, currant, apricot, mango, pawpaw, figs, cranberries, pear, peach, Inca berries, goji berries or blueberries.

OR- to stay low on sugar

Add an oil or nut butter to stay low in sugar and high protein. This is the way that I like as dried fruits can increase the sugar content. Add 1/2 cup of peanut butter, cashew nut butter ABC butter, coconut oil or tahini.

Want more flavour? Add the following if you have it to enhance the taste.

Cocoa powder, protein powder, lemon/lime/orange zest and juice, sesame seeds, fresh fruit, spices cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, ginger, turmeric, mesquite, lucuma, super-greens, acai, pumpkin, beetroot or activated buckwheat.

ADJUST

(more water, ingredients, more blitzing, less blitzing etc)

Method:

  1. In a food processor, combine the base ingredients along with dried fruits, oil/nut butter, and your preferred flavour/superfood additions. Blend until a well-mixed dough forms. (Tip: Start with the dry ingredients first, then add the wet ingredients)

  2. Roll the mixture into bite-sized balls and coat them with a topping of your choice, if desired.

  3. Have fun experimenting with different flavour combinations and enjoy these blissful bites in moderation.
